🏳️⚧ Happy Transgender Flag Day! 🏳️⚧
Transgender Flag Day is celebrated every year, on August 19. It honors the creation of the transgender pride flag, which was designed by transgender activist and U.S. Navy veteran Monica Helms on August 19, 1999.
The flag's design features five horizontal stripes with three primary colors:
Baby blue and pink representing traditional colors for boys and girls.
White representing those who are transitioning, gender-neutral, or identify as having an undefined or neutral gender.
Helms intentionally designed the flag to be perfectly symmetrical so that it is "always correct no matter which way you fly it," symbolizing that there is no wrong way to be transgender.
